Sara and Oliver both didn't actually want her to die, so when Sara saves her and heals her on the Waverider, they are left with a very small dilemma. What do they do with a living Laurel? They can't keep her on the Waverider forever, and they can't bring her home, so Barry proposes a solution that involves neither:
"What if we take her to another Earth?"
Earth 2, while being the closest option, is out due to Black Siren's infamous reputation, and Earth 19 due to their deadly opinions on breachers, but Barry insists that Kara and her friends on Earth 38 are the perfect option. And while Laurel doesn't want to leave her father, she also doesn't really want to die either - so she agrees. She'll go live on Earth 38 and hopefully one day she'll be able to go home.
Lucky for her, there is no Dinah Laurel Lance in Starling City there. It's just a brand new world and a fresh start and she still isn't sure if this is what she really wants.
Still, she's grateful, and she indicates as much as she waits in the middle of the DEO, watching Winn work intently on a terminal.]
I hope it's not too much trouble - creating a whole new person, I mean.
[ kara's excited about having a new friend even if they don't know each other and are only tangentially acquainted and she has good friends already. but still, what's not to love about having someone from Earth-1 move over? ]
I wouldn't worry about it. It's worked out pretty well for me, and Winn is really good at what he does. I'm not totally sure the DEO doesn't control the social security database.
Really? That sounds so interesting. You'd think we'd know more lawyers in our line of work over here, but I guess it's hard to have a legal expert in on an extralegal government organization. Though my friend Lucy is a military lawyer who worked for CatCo for a bit.
